Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised a contest on Quran recitation and ghazals at Aliarpur Darul Uloom Qawmia Hafezia Madrasa in Ullapara upazila, Sirajganj on Thursday.

Sixty madrasa students took part in the contest in the two mentioned categories. The total six toppers – champion, first runners-up, and second runners-up in the two categories – received prayer mats as gifts. Other participants also got consolation prizes.

Top three winners in the Quran recitation category were: Md Shihab Uddin, Md Fahim Ashraf and Md Alamin Hossain. The winners in the religious hymn or Ghazal category were: Md Shihab, Md Huzaifa Hasan, and Md Rabiul Islam.

Three Islamic scholars: Hafez Md Mobarak Hossain, Hafez Md Rashel Ahamed, and Hafez Md Zakaria Hosain served as judges in the two categories.

At the event also present were, Ullapara Upazila Social Work Officer Rafikul Islam, Madrasa Headmaster Mawlana Md Ataur Rahman, teacher Mawlana Ruhul Amin, Kaler Kantho’s Ullapara Upazila correspondent Ataur Rahman Raju, Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s Ullapara Upazila Unit President Md Farhad Hossain, and Vice-President Wahab Hossain, among others.
