Stories of Light and Shadow: A Conversation with Photographer Mostafigur Rahman

Bangladesh’s nature, rivers, forests, villages, and people appear with fresh depth through the lens of Muhammad Mostafigur Rahman. His photographs portray the hardship of honey collectors in the Sundarbans, the excitement of urban people watching the World Cup, the pure joy of rural life and the struggles of women who walk long distances to collect safe water. Although his official name is Muhammad Mostafigur Rahman, he has also been known as Mustafiz Mamun, a name he used for almost thirty years while writing travel features. His photographs have earned some of the world’s most respected awards and have been exhibited across many countries.

In this long conversation with Daily Sun Staff Reporter SM Mostafijur Rahman, the renowned photographer shares his remarkable journey from childhood fascination to global recognition.
